Couples Massage

Partners massage is a popular service where two people are massaged in the same room, at the same time, by two different therapists.  The couple can be a husband and wife, girlfriend and boyfriend, same-sex partners, moms, and daughters, or best friends.

This is a great way to introduce a partner who has never gotten a massage before in a way that makes them feel more comfortable the first time. Sometimes you're not intimate partners, just traveling with someone you don't get to see often enough -- a sister, mom or best friend -- and you want to spend as much time together as possible. 

A couples massage helps you reconnect.

Often, partners are busy and find little time to be alone without worrying about what they need to get done or haven’t gotten done that day. But during a massage session, people are almost instinctually driven to let go of the past and the future and turn their attention to the present moment. This practice of being fully engaged in an activity together that can help couples reconnect, and with a little effort, they can bring that same level of mindful awareness to their time outside of the massage.

Personalized therapy together

Every individual has personal needs and goals for massage. During a couples session, both clients can receive unique treatments that address their specific needs. While one partner may experience pain radiating from the neck or shoulders, the other may experience tightness in the feet or legs. Couples sessions allow both of these issues to be addressed at one time, resulting in complete and comprehensive treatment for both of you.

Our couples massage private instruction is based on simple, easy-to-learn Swedish massage techniques and are designed to help you and your partner share the nurturing, relaxing, therapeutic benefits of massage with each other. During this 2-hour private class, your instructor (who is also an Elm City Wellness therapist) will demonstrate and teach basic Swedish massage techniques that can be revisited often and expanded upon with practice.

This private class emphasizes the massage techniques
and communication skills that will let you use your
new skills right away. Includes manual and a special gift.
